2026 Central Texas Preservation Month Party at the Kyle Log House - May 16

May is National Historic Preservation Month, and to celebrate, Preservation Texas is hosting an exclusive tour and gathering on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Kyle Log House in Kyle, Texas. Attendees will enjoy an afternoon of great food, music, and a silent auction in a one-of-a-kind historic setting!

Built circa 1850 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Kyle Log House is an extremely rare dogtrot log home that remains on its original site on a bluff above the Blanco River. The property is owned by Hays County and maintained by the Claiborne Kyle Log House Commission. After several years of being closed to the public, the Commission is opening the house exclusively for Preservation Texas members during this special event.

Attendees will get a first look at updated exhibits inside the Kyle Log House, showcasing new discoveries from recent research. They’ll also enjoy a lunch of Texas barbecue and fried chicken, along with homemade Dutch oven biscuits and “cowboy coffee” served from an authentic 18th-century chuck wagon, originally from the Four Sixes Ranch. Guests can also browse a silent auction featuring antique items, Texas-themed gifts, and unique experiences.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to explore an important site that is not usually open to the public, learn about its history, and connect with others while supporting Preservation Texas—the statewide nonprofit dedicated to historic preservation.

Tickets are $25 for current Preservation Texas members or $35 for first-time members, which includes a complimentary one-year Individual-level membership. Advance registration is required.
