Preservation Texas offers comprehensive services to support the ongoing care, management, and interpretation of historic sites. These services are designed to help property owners, organizations, and communities protect and share their historic resources, ensuring that they are preserved for future generations and effectively communicated to the public.

HISTORIC SITE AFFILIATE – Co-marketing, branding, and providing preservation and exhibits guidance for historic sites to enhance their visibility and sustainability.

  • Partnering with a historic site affiliate program strengthens a site’s profile, builds community engagement, and provides access to resources and expertise that support preservation goals.

HISTORIC SITE STEWARDSHIP – Ongoing management and stewardship of historic properties through management contracts, leases, or transfer of ownership, including archaeological sites

  • Stewardship ensures that historic sites are maintained, protected, and cared for over the long term, with professional oversight and planning that meets both preservation standards and community needs.

Preservation Texas accepted the donation of an important archaeological site on Caddo Lake in Marion County to ensure its permanent preservation.

HISTORIC SITE INTERPRETIVE PLANNING – Developing interpretive plans for museums, exhibits, and public buildings, focusing on educating visitors and creating meaningful experiences.

  • Interpretive planning enhances public engagement by telling the story of a site in an accessible and informative way, increasing its educational value and visitor impact.

The Calaboose Museum of African-American History is working with Preservation Texas to develop plans for an expanded footprint in San Marcos's Mitchell Center.

PUBLIC INTERPRETATION AND STORYTELLING DEVELOPMENT – Creating public history projects, exhibitions, and publications that interpret and share the significance of historic sites and events.

Preservation Texas created, Adobe at the Pass: Documenting the Mission Valley in 1936, a bilingual exhibit featuring photographs of adobe structures in El Paso County taken for the Historic American Buildings Survey program in 1936.
