2025 Honor Award Nominations Now Open

Preservation Texas presents biennial Honor Awards which recognize outstanding individuals in the field of preservation, as well as recent historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and reconstruction projects from across the state.

The 2025 Honor Awards ceremony will be held on the evening of Thursday, October 30th, in San Antonio. Further event details will be announced soon.

Our Honor Awards are divided into two main categories: Individual Awards and Preservation Project Awards, each with several specialized subcategories. Self-nominations are welcome. For detailed award descriptions, please visit preservationtexas.org/honorawards.

INDIVIDUAL HONOR AWARDS

Individual Honor Awards recognize people who have demonstrated excellence in advocacy, heritage education, heritage trades, preservation media, or public service.

Selection Process: Only one award will be presented in each Individual category, except for the Preservation Media Award, where multiple awards may be given to honor excellence across different media formats. Nominations for Individual Awards are reviewed and selected by Preservation Texas’ Preservation Programs Committee.

Nomination Fee: $50 per nomination for current Preservation Texas members, or $75 per nomination for non-members.

  • Adina De Zavala Advocacy Award

  • Mirabeau B. Lamar Heritage Education Award

  • Heinrich Portscheller Heritage Trades Legacy Award

  • Preservation Media Award

  • Public Service Award

PRESERVATION PROJECT HONOR AWARDS

Project Awards recognize outstanding efforts in the preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of historic buildings in Texas completed within the last three years. These awards honor projects that demonstrate significant contributions to preserving the state's architectural and cultural heritage. Eligible projects include residential, commercial, institutional, and other property types, such as industrial or agricultural buildings, and cemeteries.

Selection Process: Preservation Project Awards are evaluated and selected by a jury of preservation professionals and architects from across Texas. There will be no limit to the number of Preservation Project Awards presented.

Nomination Fee: $75 for current Preservation Texas members, or $125 for non-members.

  • Historic Reconstruction Award

  • Historic Infill Award
