2026 Most Endangered Places List

Preservation Texas is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Most Endangered Places (MEP) list! Since 2004, the list has served as a powerful tool for raising visibility and awareness for our state’s imperiled historic places.

The 2026 list will be announced in May during National Historic Preservation Month. We are seeking nominations for significant historic sites threatened by demolition, neglect, inappropriate development, or other similar issues.

For over two decades, the MEP program has highlighted hundreds of threatened sites across Texas, bringing statewide attention to these places and helping mobilize support for their protection. In many cases, the designation has demonstrated the value of historic places to local communities and stakeholders and contributed to successful preservation outcomes.

While Preservation Texas provides publicity for listed sites, each property nominated to the 2026 list must already have an organized group of advocates actively working toward its preservation.

Current members of Preservation Texas are eligible to submit a nomination. If you are not a member, we invite you to join or renew! If you are unsure of your membership status, please email us.

Nominations are due Friday, April 17, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. CST. Properties previously included on the Most Endangered Places list are not eligible for consideration, and all nominated sites must be in Texas.

Use the link above to submit your nomination via Google Forms. Please note that this form requires a Google account to access and complete the nomination. If you do not already have a Google account, you can create one for free at accounts.google.com.
