Linden Firehouse

Linden, Cass County

No growing community was safe without a fire station, and the rehabilitation of the practical structures can offer some of the best examples of adaptive use. While many historic buildings have been lost to fire, many more have been saved through the valiant efforts of firefighters. That we are able to enjoy neighborhoods filled with old wooden buildings is a testament to the success of our firefighters, and the old fire stations represent the front line in preservation.

Plans for the adaptive use of the 1939 firehouse in Linden will be a model for similar rescues of often unnoticed historic public buildings in the shadows of Texas courthouse squares.
