Texas Cultural Landscapes Symposium
February 23-26, 2020
Waco, Texas

Preservation Texas, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, the NPS National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT), and the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) will host a three-day symposium focused on educating and connecting the regional preservation community with cultural landscape training and practice.

Cultural Landscapes are complex resources containing both cultural and natural resources such as architecture, roads, vegetation, archaeology, and aspects of intangible heritage.  The Symposium will include educational sessions, invited papers, and a field session that will incorporate regional case studies and built a body of professional practice.

Registration and conference details will be available on this website on November 15, 2019.

Presentations should include case studies that document, investigate, plan, preserve, interpret or manage regional cultural landscapes, preferably from Texas and adjacent states (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana) or northern Mexico.

PRESENTATIONS & POSTERS

Abstracts are due December 9, 2019

Presentations

Please submit an abstract of no more than 500 words. Abstracts need to include main presenter’s full name and contact information (name, title, organization, address, phone), and an email address and 100-word biography for each presenter.

Presentations will be 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for questions.

Presenters are required to prepare a paper for a symposium publication

Presentations will be recorded and available on NCPTT’s website.

Papers & Presentations are due February 17, 2020.

Posters

Please submit an abstract of no more than 500 words. Abstracts need to include main presenter’s full name and contact information (name, title, organization, address, phone), and an email address and 100-word biography for each presenter.

Posters will be available during the meeting on Feb. 24-25 at the Hilton Waco with a Q&A scheduled during lunch on the second day.
