WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
Since 1985, Preservation Texas has provided an independent, statewide voice in support of historic preservation. Through legislative advocacy, educational programs, the Most Endangered Places list, Honor Awards program, stewardship of Bassett Farms Conservancy, and countless site visits, presentations and consultations, Preservation Texas is making a difference. We work with national, state and local government agencies and officials, nonprofit organizations and individual stakeholders to solve preservation problems and draw attention to issues of importance to all of us.
From protecting local historic preservation ordinances during the 2019 Texas State Legislative Session to meeting over 200 Texans in rural counties in East Texas and the Panhandle/Plains region to discuss local preservation issues through our Road Show, Preservation Texas has been your voice in Austin and across the State of Texas in support of our historic resources in 2019.
In the year ahead, we will be:
- Re-establishing Preservation Texas Alliance as a separate 501(c)(4) organization to provide more powerful legislative advocacy
- Pursuing funding to establish a substantial Revolving Fund to invest in threatened historic properties
- Hosting a multi-day Texas Cultural Landscapes Symposium in February with state and national partners including the National Park Service in Waco
- Continuing the work of documenting and preserving Bassett Farms Conservancy with a $30,000 Texas Preservation Trust Fund grant from the Texas Historical Commission to complete a comprehensive cultural landscape inventory and a $3,500 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to document the site’s historic African-American Hopewell Cemetery
On behalf of our Board of Directors, we thank you for your continuing support with a tax-deductible contribution of any amount to our 2019 Annual Fund.
